Rangers' Ian Desmond: Day off Tuesday

Desmond is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Astros, according to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Analysis:

Desmond tallied two hits in Monday's game and did the same five times in his previous nine games, but he also has not had a day off since July 31, so manager Jeff Banister decided to give him one Tuesday. Carlos Gomez will slide over and cover center field in Desmond's place.
