Daniel Murphy hasn't even completed a full season with the Washington Nationals, but he's already in their record books.
With his first-inning double Thursday against the Philadelphia Phillies, Murphy became the first Nationals second baseman in franchise history with 40 doubles in a season.
The last player in Nationals/Montreal Expos history to do it was Jose Vidro in 2002.
This is only the second time in Murphy's career that he's reached the 40-double plateau, his first time being in 2012.
In his first year with the Nationals, Murphy came into the game having the best season of his career, slashing .345/.388/.595 with 25 home runs and 100 RBIs - all career highs.
