Giants' Jeff Samardzija: Strikes out nine in no-decision
Samardzija allowed two runs on four hits and a walk with nine strikeouts over seven innings in Tuesday's no-decision against the Rockies.
Analysis:
Samardzija has now thrown quality starts in four of his last five outings, with the one exception coming at Wrigley Field, one of the toughest draws this season. The nine strikeouts tied a season high for Samardzija, who last accomplished the feat in consecutive outings May 3 and May 8, the latter also against the Rockies. Still, he has just 146 strikeouts in 184.2 innings, his second straight sub-8.0 K/9 season after he reached that mark every year from 2011 through 2014.
