Giants' Denard Span: Recent struggles continue
Span failed to reach base in six plate appearances in a loss to the Cubs on Sunday.
Analysis:
Span has been mired in a mini-funk, going 0-for-16 with three strikeouts over his last three games. He did suffer a neck injury on Aug. 30, so that may be the cause of his sudden drop in production. It could also be a case of the 32-year-old running out of steam down the stretch. With the Giants traveling to Colorado to continue their nine-game road trip, it wouldn't be surprising to see Span get a maintenance day off early in the week.
