Angels end Lincecum's season without call-up

Tim Lincecum's 10th major-league season has come to an end.
Los Angeles Angels general manager Billy Eppler announced the club won't be calling the veteran right-hander up from the minors, effectively ending Lincecum's season.
"We've made a decision to stay with the numbers we have and divide the innings and at-bats with the guys in this room," Eppler told reporters.
Lincecum agreed to a one-year deal with the Angels in May and would go on to make nine less-than-stellar starts, fashioning a 9.16 ERA and 2.37 WHIP in 38 1/3 innings.
The two-time Cy Young winner was designated for assignment last month but accepted a Triple-A assignment to remain in the Angels organization. He went 0-3 with a 4.93 ERA in seven starts with Salt Lake.
"There are some things that Tim just wasn't able to harness right now," manager Mike Scioscia said. "It's impossible to do that at the major league level, but it certainly was worth the time he put in to hopefully understand what he needs to do in the offseason and what he needs to do next year to pitch."
Since making his fourth All-Star appearance in 2011, Lincecum owns a 4.95 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 122 appearances.
