Marlins' Justin Nicolino: Takes loss despite quality start Sunday
Nicolino (2-6) allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk over six innings in Sunday's loss to the Padres. He failed to strike out a batter.
Analysis:
This was Nicolino's first quality start in the majors since early May, as the left-hander's inability to miss bats -- he managed just five swinging strikes in 101 pitches -- continues to leave him at the mercy of his defense and the BABIP gods. The Marlins may elect to leave him in the rotation in September, but don't expect the results to get much better than this.
