Marlins' Jose Fernandez: Rebounds with seven scoreless innings
Fernandez (13-7) threw seven scoreless innings and allowed six hits and two walks while striking out nine and earning the win against the Royals on Wednesday.
Analysis:
Fernandez bounced back from his shortest outing of the season his last time out, dominating the Royals on Wednesday and chipping in with a pair of hits himself. With the start, Fernandez snapped out of a recent rough stretch in which he posted a 6.00 ERA over his last four starts, dropping his ERA to 2.91 on the season. Fernandez continues to mow down hitters at a historic rate, and his 12.9 K/9 would be the third best single-season K/9 among qualifying starting pitchers in MLB history. He also set the Marlins' record for strikeouts in a season Wednesday, now with 213. Fernandez will take the hill next against the Mets on Monday.
