Twins' Joe Mauer: Out of lineup Wednesday

Analysis:

Kenny Vargas will start at first base as Mauer gets the night off. Mauer has been phenomenal at the plate lately, having hit .400/.491/.600 over the last 14 games. He'll likely return to action Thursday when Minnesota begins its series against the Royals.
