Blue Jays' Russell Martin: Two homers against former team
Martin went 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBI at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday.
Analysis:
Martin refused to be upstaged by Yankees counterpart Gary Sanchez, who also had a two-homer night at the catcher position. He and the rest of the Blue Jays benefitted greatly from rain cutting Michael Pineda's outing short, as both of Martin's blasts came against a leaking bullpen. The 33-year-old has hit at least 11 home runs in five straight seasons, but his output to date has to be viewed as disappointing after he launched 23 in 2015.
