Yankees' Michael Pineda: Solid over six innings in Friday victory
Pineda (6-10) struck out six and gave up four earned runs on six hits and a walk over six innings in a 13-7 victory over the Indians on Friday.
Analysis:
He had the luxury of being staked to a large lead, as the Yankees jumped out to a 6-0 advantage after just three frames. Pineda was also efficient, throwing 69 of 97 pitches for strikes, notching first-pitch strikes on 16 of 23 batters and inducing 11 swinging strikes overall. He's pitched much better from early June onward after starting off the season 2-6, as he's managed a 4-4 record and lowered his ERA from 6.92 to 5.17 since that point. He'll take on the Red Sox next Thursday at Fenway.
