Mets' Jose Reyes: Heading out on rehab assingment

Reyes (ribs) was sent to High-A St. Lucie for a rehab assignment, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports.

Analysis:

Reyes's ribs have been healing as expected and he appears on track to return from the DL as soon as he's eligible on August 10. Upon his return, Reyes will likely continue serving as the Mets' everyday third basemen, though with Asdrubal Cabrera (knee) sidelined, the team may play Reyes at his natural shortstop position and use Wilmer Flores at third. Since joining the club, Reyes has been showing off his newfound power, as nine of his 16 hits have been for extra bases.
