Athletics' Sonny Gray: Slammed by Rays in loss
Gray (4-9) gave up seven runs on nine hits in a loss to the Rays on Thursday. He struck out six without a walk, but allowed two home runs.
Analysis:
Both of those homers were of the solo variety, but the big swings coupled with Tampa rallies conspired to bury Gray again. After looking like a budding star through his first three seasons, Gray's been slumming it with the scrubs this year, as his 5.49 ERA will attest. He can't be trusted anymore this season unless he shows signs of a drastic turnaround, but keeper-league owners looking toward the future may find that he makes for a nice cheap acquisition for next year.
