Blue Jays' J.A. Happ: Gets win thanks to offense against Rockies
Happ (10-3) allowed five runs on nine hits and a walk with three strikeouts over five innings but still picked up the win Tuesday against the Rockies.
Analysis:
Happ has been solid this year, with a 3.70 ERA and a 69:31 K:BB, but his 10-3 record is far more about run support than his skill. At 5.8 runs per game entering this start, Happ ranked 10th in the American League in run support per start. Of course, the Blue Jays lineup isn't going anywhere, but Happ has allowed 13 home runs in 16 starts and isn't going to reliably bring in wins like this unless the Blue Jays keep raking for him.
