Reds' John Lamb: Goes toe-to-toe with Cubs' Lester
Lamb (1-4) tossed six innings, allowing two runs, six hits and one walk while striking out seven in Tuesday's game against the Cubs. He did not factor in the decision
Analysis:
The left-handed sophomore went toe-to-toe with the savvy-veteran southpaw John Lester, who allowed just one run over 7.2 innings. Lamb's fine performance pushed his ERA down to 4.60, its best mark since May 8. In his first eight outings of the year, Lamb struck out 22 batters in 42 frames. Over his last three starts, the 25-year-old has struck out 19 in 16.2 innings, which is much more in line with his career 8.1 K/9.
