Mariners' Adrian Sampson: Needs surgery, out for season
Sampson (elbow) needs surgery and will miss the remainder of the season, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Analysis:
Right elbow discomfort ended Sampson's outing Thursday before it even got started, and doctors have informed the right-hander that he needs surgery to reattach the flexor bundle in his elbow. It isn't as serious as Tommy John surgery, but the procedure will put Sampson on the shelf for the remainder of 2016. Wade Miley (shoulder) is slated to rejoin the Mariners' rotation this upcoming week.
