The Seattle Mariners have sent struggling outfielder Nori Aoki to Triple-A as part of a slew of moves the club made Friday.
In his first season with the Mariners, Aoki has been ineffective, slashing .245/.323/.313 with one home run in 67 games.
Although he isn't doing terribly against right-handed pitching, the slugger has 14 hits in 87 plate appearances against lefties this season.
Over the offseason, Aoki inked a one-year, $5.5-million deal with a 2017 option. Over his five-year career, he's batting .282/.350/.378 with 25 home runs.
Seattle also optioned right-hander Tom Wilhelmsen to Triple-A, and recalled pitchers Wade LeBlanc, Donn Roach, and David Rollins.
