Mets' Bartolo Colon: Has suffered a right thumb bruise
Colon (thumb) left Tuesday's game against the Royals with a right thumb contusion as X-rays came back negative, Adam Rubin of ESPN reports.
Analysis:
Nothing in Colon's hand was broken after Whit Merrifield lined a comebacker right off his wrist in the first inning of Tuesday's outing. There is no word on whether the veteran will miss his next start, but Colon is fortunate to not have fractured anything after leaving the game having only thrown four pitches.
