Red Sox's David Price: Takes loss despite quality start Friday

Price (7-2) gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits and four walks over seven innings in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays. He struck out five.

Analysis:

The veteran southpaw got things started off on the wrong foot by giving up a two-run homer in the first inning to Edwin Encarnacion, and then suffered from a rare lack of run support the rest of the way. Price still missed plenty of bats, generating 13 swinging strikes to be exact, but didn't make things easy on himself by handing out multiple free passes for the second straight start. However, he's now brought his ERA (4.88) down to the lowest it's been since back on April 16, and produced five consecutive quality starts. He'll face off against Johnny Cueto and the Giants next Thursday night in San Francisco.
