Muhammad Ali, the legendary boxing champion and decorated cultural icon, electrified crowds everywhere he went - even All-Star Games in the presence of Cy Youngs and MVPs.

On July 13, 2004, Ali made one of the most famous appearances in All-Star history when the 62-year-old joined children from the Boys and Girls Club on the field for the first pitch of the 2004 Midsummer Classic in Houston.

A who's who of superstars - including Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, and Barry Bonds - gathered around the mound for a classic photo with "The Greatest," who by that time had been battling Parkinson's for 20 years.

Always an entertainer, Ali looked as spry as ever when he showed off a series of air jabs during an iconic moment of footage before the game.

Ali's death was first announced by family spokesman Bob Gunnell in a statement late Friday after the 74-year-old boxing legend was hospitalized because of a respiratory issue on Thursday. The somber news triggered an outpouring of support from the baseball world, including Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully, who broke the news to viewers watching the Dodgers-Braves game during the top of the eighth inning.
