Mariners' Nate Karns: Strikes out six in Memorial Day win
Karns (5-1) earned the win by holding the Padres to two runs over 6.2 innings Monday. He allowed eight hits, walked one and struck out six.
Analysis:
The eight hits allowed were actually a season high for Karns, but he managed to limit the damage by keeping his walks down. Karns has had some trouble giving the Mariners length at times, but has been successful nonetheless, allowing no more than three runs in any of his six May starts. Karns will make his next start Saturday against the Rangers.
