Cardinals' Kolten Wong: Sits again Sunday
Wong is out of the lineup Sunday against the Nationals.
Analysis:
Wong was given the day off Saturday, but that came as no true surprise, as southpaw Gio Gonzalez started for Washington. Now, Wong will remain on the bench despite right-hander Stephen Strasburg scheduled to take the mound. Saturday's absence marked the end of a six-game streak in which Wong had appeared in the starting lineup, but after collecting just three base hits over that stretch, manager Mike Matheny may be starting to get fed up with the 25-year-old's inconsistency at the plate. Jedd Gyorko will make his second straight start at the keystone Sunday.
