Mets' Matt Harvey: Struggles again Tuesday
Harvey struggles continued Tuesday against the Nationals, as he allowed three home runs and five runs in five innings, and his next start is not set in stone . Manager Terry Collins said after the game, "We've got to think what's not just best for Matt, but what's best for us moving forward."
Analysis:
Harvey was able to get through the first three innings unscathed, but his issues the second and third time through the lineup were on full display Tuesday. He allowed back-to-back solo home runs to Ryan Zimmerman and Anthony Rendon in the fourth and a two-run home run to Daniel Murphy in the fifth. In the first through third innings this season, Harvey has a 3.03 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 30 strikeouts and seven walks. In the fourth through sixth innings, he has a 9.89 ERA, 2.24 WHIP, 14 strikeouts and 10 walks. Harvey's 6.08 ERA ranks 101st out of 105 qualified MLB pitchers, further evidence for his struggles over the first seven weeks of the season.
