Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Out-dueled Sunday versus Giants
Hendricks fell to 2-4 after Sunday's loss to the Giants in which he allowed a single earned run with one strikeout and three walks across 5.1 innings.
Analysis:
He allowed just two extra-base hits Sunday, but one of them unfortunately came from opposing pitcher Madison Bumgarner, who doubled in the only run of the game in the fifth inning. Hendricks has now failed to go six innings in either of his last two starts, but he continues to limit baserunnsers and is the owner of a solid 3.30 ERA to go along with a tidy WHIP of 1.06. He's failed to win a game since early May and will look to get back in the left column Saturday at Philadelphia.
