The Houston Astros are trying to slug Clay Buchholz right out of the Boston Red Sox rotation.
The struggling right-hander was hit hard and often Saturday, beginning with a mammoth blast from Astros shortstop Carlos Correa during the first inning in Boston. Correa's solo homer - his sixth of the year - traveled over the Green Monster and out of Fenway Park at an estimated distance of 455 feet, with an exit velocity of 112 mph, according to MLB StatCast.
George Springer continued to batter Buchholz in the second, launching a grand slam to give the Astros a 5-2 lead.
Buchholz took a 6.54 ERA and 1.52 WHIP into Saturday's start.
