Berrios is being promoted to the majors, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Analysis:

Berrios has allowed just two earned runs and eight hits in three starts for Triple-A Rochester, with a 20:8 K:BB over 17 innings. One of the top prospects in all of baseball, the 21-year-old righty will join a Twins rotation that's currently dealing with a slew of question marks. Ervin Santana (back) and Tyler Duffey (shoulder) are both considered day-to-day, while Tommy Milone and Kyle Gibson have merely been ineffective. Berrios, meanwhile, hasn't pitched in a minor-league game since Thursday and should therefore be available whenever the Twins want him to start. Even working under the assumption of an innings limit, Berrios offers tantalizing upside in any format. Furthermore, he threw 166.1 highly-effective innings between the Double-A and Triple-A levels last season, so his limit shouldn't be too strict.
