Russell Martin left Friday's game with neck spasms.
Martin left Friday's game with neck spasms, MLB.com's Gregor Chisholm reports.
Analysis:
The team is saying that Martin was removed for precautionary reasons, so hopefully this turns out to be a minor issue. He has dealt with neck issues before, most recently in 2013 when me missed four games with neck stiffness. Josh Thole is the only other catcher on the active roster, and he would presumably see all of the playing time if Russell misses a couple games. If it's a more serious situation, Tony Sanchez could be recalled as depth from Triple-A. Consider Martin day-to-day for now.
