New York Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia recorded the 2,584th strikeout of his career in the third inning of Friday's contest with the Tampa Bay Rays, passing Hall of Fame southpaw Warren Spahn to claim sole possession of 25th on the all-time list.
Sabathia fanned Steven Souza Jr. to reach the milestone, and went on to pitch 4 2/3 innings of three-run ball before making way for Ivan Nova.
