Yankees' Beltran: 'Starlin Castro is playing T-ball'
After falling 5-3 to the Houston Astros in their season opener, the New York Yankees piled on 16 runs in the second game of the series Wednesday thanks to another impressive offensive outburst from Starlin Castro.
The second baseman went 4-for-5 with a home run and five RBIs in the contest, one night after collecting a pair of RBIs in his first game in pinstripes.
His first homer with the club - a three-run shot - came in the second inning off Astros righty Michael Feliz.

In fact, Castro now has the most RBIs (7) by a Yankees player in his first two games with the historic franchise, surpassing Todd Greene's mark of six from 2001.
"Starlin Castro is playing T-ball right now," Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran exclaimed following the rout.
Castro, acquired in a December trade with the Chicago Cubs in exchange for right-hander Adam Warren and a player to be named later (which ended up being infielder Brendan Ryan) has also tied the Yankees' record for the most RBIs in the first two games of a season, joining some illustrious company.
YEAR | PLAYER | RBI |
---|---|---|
2016 | Starlin Castro | 7 |
1997 | Tino Martinez | 7 |
1956 | Yogi Berra | 7 |
1932 | Babe Ruth | 7 |
"I just want to be the player that I used to be," Castro said postgame. "To show everybody that I am a good player, that I can be a better player."
Despite watching a 6-1 lead evaporate in the second inning, New York cruised to a 16-6 victory.
