 The Giants have won 10 of their last 15 games at Petco Park, including a pair of four-game winning streaks.  Prior to that, San Francisco hadn't won four straight at San Diego since 2012.

 For the first time in 10 years, the Padres are more than 10 games above .500 with 15 games remaining in the season.  The last time San Diego did that was 2010, with an 82--65 mark through games of Sept. 17. (The Padres finished the 2010 season at 90--72, two games behind the Giants, and missed the playoffs.)

 The Giants defeated the Mariners, 10--1, last night for their largest margin of victory in a home game since April 4, 2018, when they topped Seattle by the same score.

 Mike Yastrzemski's home run last night was his 30th since making his MLB debut on May 25 last season.  No other Giants player has hit even 20 homers during that time; Evan Longoria is the runner-up (19).

 Fernando Tatis Jr. has hit more than twice as many homers at age 21 or younger than any other player in Padres history (37). Roberto Alomar is second on the list with 16; no one else hit more than five.

 Dealing with inflammation of his left hip, Trevor Cahill has compiled a 2.65 ERA but pitched only 17.0 innings in his five starts this season.  The last Giants pitcher to work fewer than 20 innings over his first five starts in a season was Kirk Rueter in 1999 (1--1 with a 10.13 ERA in 18.2 IP during that span).

The Padres and Giants didn't play as scheduled on Saturday, the second of two games postponed in San Diego when a member of the San Francisco traveling party tested positive for COVID-19.
Instead, they played the waiting game, wondering if they'd take the field at Petco Park Sunday in a doubleheader Sunday. Finally, just before midnight local time on Saturday night, the teams learned they got the OK to play on Sunday.

Padres, Giants to play key DH amid postseason push

SAN DIEGO (AP)  With a winning record clinched for the first time in 10 seasons and a long-sought playoff berth on the horizon, the streaking San Diego Padres will try to avoid getting too psyched up for their biggest series in a long time.
The Padres swept a doubleheader against the San Francisco Giants on Sunday, winning 6-0 and 3-1 to extend their winning streak to seven games. On Monday night, they'll face Clayton Kershaw in the opener of a home three-game series against the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers.
