 St. Louis has won five of seven meetings between these teams in 2020, doubling up the Reds' run total (42-21). The Cardinals won the season series with Cincinnati each of the past eight years (2012-19).

 The Cardinals split a doubleheader with Detroit yesterday, winning 12-2 in the first game before a 6-3 loss in the second. They are the only MLB team this year that is unbeaten when scoring five or more runs (16-0); they are 3-18 (.143) when scoring four or fewer runs, fifth worst in the majors.

 Cincinnati ranks last in the NL in runs per game (3.84) and last in the majors with a .210 batting average. No MLB team has hit under .220 in a season since the 1972 Rangers (.217), and no NL team has done so since the 1963 Mets (.219).

ST. LOUIS (AP)  Andrew Miller loaded the bases with a hit batter, followed with a tying four-pitch walk, then threw a wild pitch that put Cincinnati ahead in a three-run seventh inning as the Reds kept up their slim playoff hopes with a 10-5 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.
St. Louis, second in the NL Central at 20-20, dropped four games behind the division-leading Chicago Cubs (28-20) with two weeks left. The fourth-place Reds are 21-26 and also trail Milwaukee (20-24) .
