This is scheduled to be the final series between the Rockies and Padres this season. The first seven games were played at Coors Field, and this will be the lone series at Petco Park. San Diego won four of the first seven games, scoring at least six runs in five of the seven contests.

The Rockies won 2-of-3 at the Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend, and are now at .500 for the sixth time this season (also 1-1, 13-13, 15-15, 16-16, 17-17). Colorado has scored five-plus runs in each of its last five games, tied for the longest active streak in MLB (Houston).

The Padres return home after a 6-3 road trip to Colorado (3-1), LA Angels (1-1) and Oakland (2-1). San Diego is 14-5 (.737) since August 17, tied for the best record in the National League (LAD also 14-5).

Nolan Arenado has 10 hits in seven games against the Padres this season, but has yet to drive in a run. Arenado's 10 hits without an RBI are tied for the most hits by any player against a single team without an RBI (Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Tex vs. Sea). Dating back to last season, Arenado has gone 31 consecutive plate appearances without an RBI versus San Diego -- his career high is 37 straight (versus Dodgers in 2014-15 and vs. Padres in 2014).

The duo of Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado leads the majors in hits (101), home runs (27), runs batted in (74) and runs scored (76). In the seven games against Colorado this season, the duo has combined for 19 hits, 15 runs and 11 RBI despite going deep just once (Tatis Jr.).

Dinelson Lamet has thrown at least 5.0 innings, allowed five hits or fewer and three runs or fewer in all eight starts this season. It is the longest such streak of starts to begin a season in San Diego history. Since returning from injury last July 4, Lamet's 12.4 strikeouts per nine innings is fifth best in baseball (min. 100 IP) behind only Gerrit Cole (13.7), Justin Verlander (13.2), Lucas Giolito (12.5) and Robbie Ray (12.5).

After an ugly defeat Tuesday at San Diego, the Colorado Rockies are in danger of getting swept by the Padres on Wednesday at an inopportune time.
The Rockies jumped to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning Tuesday when Nolan Arenado hit a three-run homer. However, the Padres held a 5-3 lead just six hitters into their half of the first, blew the game open to 10-3 after two innings and rolled to a 14-5 romp.

SAN DIEGO (AP)  Zach Davies won his career-best, fifth-consecutive start and Mitch Moreland hit his first homer for the Padres as San Diego beat the Colorado Rockies, 5-3, to complete its sweep of the three-game series on Wednesday.
Davies (7-2) was fantastic, after allowing a run in the first, as he tied a season-high with eight strikeouts, plowing through the Rockies with his changeup and splitter. He gave up three runs on five hits, with two walks, over six innings as the Padres won their fourth straight game.
