 Baltimore is a perfect 6-0 in interleague road games this year, compared to 2-7 at home -- including a two-game split with the Mets last week in Baltimore. It's the Orioles' longest interleague road win streak all-time.

 The Orioles won the final three games of their four-game home series with the Yankees over the weekend, limiting New York to five runs and one homer combined in the three wins. The Yankees had averaged 8.4 runs and 3.3 homers per game in winning 19 straight in the series going back to last April.

 The Mets are averaging 7.6 runs and hitting .328 as a team in seven September games, both second in the majors to the Giants (7.7 RPG, .347 BA). They've gone 4-3 in those seven games.

 Michael Conforto has hit safely in all seven games this month (15-for-32, .469), including back-to-back three-hit games on Sunday and Monday against the Phillies. His .348 average for the season ranks second in the NL to Washington's Trea Turner (.362).

 Tuesday starters John Means (8.10) and Michael Wacha (7.20) are two of 15 MLB pitchers this year with at least five starts and an ERA of 7.00 or higher. Means is winless in six career interleague starts (0-3).

 DJ Stewart went 4-for-7 with three home runs in his last two games against the Yankees, after being hitless in 2020 entering Saturday (0-for-19). He's hitting .174 on the season but with a .989 OPS.

The New York Mets and Baltimore Orioles acted like a pair of teams with different goals at the trade deadline Aug. 31. However, both squads will share the same objective Tuesday night when New York hosts Baltimore in the opener of a two-game interleague series.
The Mets came back from a six-run deficit Monday afternoon and briefly held the lead before falling to the visiting Philadelphia Phillies 9-8 in 10 innings. The Orioles were off Monday after a 5-1 win over the visiting New York Yankees on Sunday afternoon.

Mets' Wacha, Orioles' Means face off in rematch

NEW YORK (AP)  Rookie Ryan Mountcastle hit a two-run homer, Rio Ruiz added a three-run shot as the Baltimore Orioles hit four homers and cruised to an 11-2 victory over the New York Mets on Tuesday night.
The Orioles won their fourth straight and improved to 20-21, moving within a half-game of the slumping Yankees for the second wild-card spot.
