 These teams split a pair of games in Florida last week, but the Rays went 8-1 at Fenway Park last season, winning all three series there. This is Tampa Bay's longest streak of consecutive series wins in Boston since 2013-14, and the franchise has never won four straight series there.

 Tampa Bay, however, has opened this season with five straight road losses -- the third time in franchise history it has opened 0-5 on the road (also in 2001 and 2018). It has never opened a season with six straight road defeats. The Rays' 13 runs and 31 hits away from home are their fewest through five road games since 2014, when they had nine runs and 29 hits.

 Brandon Lowe went 3-for-4 in last week's series against the Red Sox and is slashing .413/.509/.739 in 14 career games against Boston, compared to .244/.314/.479 against all other teams.

 Blake Snell, who is slated to start Wednesday, has gone 4-0 with a 1.38 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in his last six starts against the Red Sox -- permitting two runs or fewer in each outing. His six-start stretch of yielding two or fewer runs against Boston is the longest active streak by any pitcher, and no player has had a longer one since the Yankees' Scott Sanderson had a seven-start streak from 1991-92.

 Since the start of the 2018 season, Boston has slashed .234/.301/.379 and scored 3.88 runs per game against the Rays compared to .272/.342/.468 and 5.64 runs per game against the rest of MLB.

 Mitch Moreland hit a walkoff home run -- his second homer of the day -- in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Blue Jays to give him six homers in 10 games played this season. The only Red Sox player to reach six home runs in fewer games played in a season was Fred Lynn 1979 (eight games). Moreland, however, is slashing just .186/.275/.300 with a home run in 21 games against the Rays at Fenway Park.

BOSTON (AP)  Hunter Renfroe hit two homers and drove in three runs, Mike Zunino belted a three-run shot over the Green Monster and out of Fenway Park and the surging Tampa Bay Rays beat the struggling Boston Red Sox 17-8 on Thursday to complete a four-game series sweep.
It was the sixth straight win for the Rays (12-8), who posted their eighth consecutive victory in Fenway. Tampa Bay won for the 12th time in its last 14 games against Boston.
