 The teams split their last 12 meetings last season, with numbers very close to even: 67 runs for Seattle to 63 for Texas, and 122 hits for the M's to the Rangers' 117. The first seven games between the teams last season featured wins of 15-1 and 14-1 by Texas as well as a 14-2 Seattle victory.

 The Mariners defeated the Rockies on Sunday, 5-3, and have not won a game in 2020 when scoring fewer than five runs. Seattle is 0-10 when scoring four runs or fewer and 6-1 when putting up at least five runs.

 Texas is coming off its first series victory of 2020, a three-game home sweep of the Angels. Rangers pitching allowed a total of six runs in those three games, after a string of six consecutive games yielding five runs or more.

 J.P. Crawford has scored 13 runs this season, most among players who do not have a home run. After hitting .393 with three extra-base hits and a 1.086 OPS in July, Crawford has a .167 mark (5-for-30) with no extra-base hits and a .431 OPS this month.

 Joey Gallo is a .313 hitter (21-for-67) in his last 21 games against the Mariners, with seven home runs, 15 walks and a 1.111 OPS. Texas has won the last six meetings between the clubs in which Gallo has homered.

 Texas' pitching staff has been far better than Seattle's in 2020 when the opponent has runners in scoring position -- 100 points different. The Mariners allow a .310 batting average with RISP, second highest in MLB behind Pittsburgh's .321. Texas gives up a .210 average with RISP, seventh lowest in the majors.

When the Texas Rangers rolled open the roof of their new Globe Life Field for a regular-season game for the first time Monday night, they suffered a 10-2 loss to Seattle. With temperatures in the mid-90s, the Mariners had their best offensive showing of the season, with 15 hits and three home runs.

Rangers seek to shut down Mariners again

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)  Nick Solak singled three times and drove in three runs, leading the Texas Rangers to a 4-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.
Solak had a two-run single in the first and an RBI hit in third, when Willie Calhoun added another run-scoring single. Calhoun's hit scored slugger Joey Gallo, who was hit by a pitch twice and walked his other two times up.
