 The Yankees host the Red Sox in their home opener for just the second time in the last 15 seasons. The last time they did so, in 2013, the Sox earned an 8-2 victory, with Jon Lester besting CC Sabathia. Boston would go on to win the World Series that year.

 The Yanks won eight of the last nine meetings between the clubs in 2019, part of a 14-5 advantage in the season series. The Bronx Bombers scored at least five runs in 15 of the 19 games versus Boston and batted .290 as a club.

 The Red Sox snapped a four-game losing streak with road wins over the Mets on Wednesday and Thursday. After allowing at least seven runs in all four defeats, Boston allowed a total of seven runs in the two victories at Citi Field.

 Giancarlo Stanton is 8-for-16 with a pair of home runs and six RBI. His OPS of 1.600 leads all MLB players with a minimum of 15 plate appearances and is the top mark for Stanton through five games in any season of his 11-year career.

The New York Yankees are getting even more confirmation of Judge's full recovery from injuries with his hot start. The right fielder attempts to extend his career-high homer streak to five games Sunday night in the finale of a three-game series with the visiting Boston Red Sox.

NEW YORK (AP)  Aaron Judge insists he's not quite locked in at the plate yet. Tell that to his teammates - or the Boston Red Sox.
The big slugger homered twice and drove in five runs, connecting for the fifth straight game and breaking an eighth-inning tie with a tape-measure shot that powered the New York Yankees past Boston 9-7 on Sunday night for their sixth consecutive victory.
