 The Cubs have scored first in five of their six games this season -- only the Braves (six) have scored first in more games. They have outscored their opponents by 10 runs in the first three innings, 11-1; that's the third-best differential in MLB behind only the Twins (+14) and Indians (+11).

 The Pirates are hitting .171 on the season, lowest in MLB, after notching just one hit in their most recent game against the Brewers. That .171 average is the team's second lowest through six games in the modern era, behind only 2013 (.119).

CHICAGO (AP)  Tyler Chatwood matched a career high with 11 strikeouts in another terrific performance, and the Chicago Cubs used the long ball to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3 on Saturday night.
Javier Baez, Kyle Schwarber and Ian Happ homered as Chicago won for the fifth time in six games. The Cubs have gone deep in each of their first eight games for the first time since 1958.
