The Twins are 9-3 at home against the Tigers since last season and have won each of the last four. Since 2018, the Twins are 60-37 (.619) at home compared to 41-59 (.410) on the road -- that .209 difference in win percentage is the second largest in MLB (Phillies, .222).

The Tigers have alternated wins and losses in each of their last nine games, losing two of three in their last series against the Angels. The Tigers haven't won back-to-back games since winning two game of a doubleheader against the Red Sox on April 23.

The Twins swept the Blue Jays in their last series, their MLB-leading fifth sweep of the season. They held the Jays to just one run in the three-game set, the first time Minnesota has allowed one or zero runs in a three-game road series since September 7-9, 1976 versus Texas (one run allowed).

Tyson Ross is 0-4 with a 5.30 ERA in six appearances against the Twins in his career. Jake Odorizzi is 3-1 against the Tigers in his career, but only had one decision in four starts against Detroit last season, posting a 5.59 ERA.

Jorge Polanco went 9-for-12 with two homers in the series against the Blue Jays this week. He is the first Twins player with at least nine hits and two homers in a three-game series since Justin Morneau from July 3-5, 2009 vs. Detroit (also nine hits and two home runs).

JaCoby Jones hit his second homer of the season against the Angels on Wednesday, Detroit's only homer of the series. Jones is the seventh Tiger to hit multiple home runs, but no Tiger has more than three, the fewest by a team's home run leader this season.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP)  C.J. Cron's second home run on a long day turned out to be the bigger one.
Cron hit a three-run homer to break open the game in the fifth inning, and the Minnesota Twins beat the Detroit Tigers 8-3 on Saturday night to earn a split of a doubleheader.
