 Tampa Bay allowed 10 runs and posted a 2.50 ERA in a four-game home sweep of Toronto earlier this month. The Rays have won 12 of 16 meetings overall this season and are 4-0-1 in their last five series at Rogers Centre.

 Toronto held on for a 3-2 victory over the Orioles on Wednesday for its 10th win in 15 games, a stretch that includes series wins over the Red Sox and Yankees. The Blue Jays' next loss will give them at least 95 for the first time since finishing 67-95 in 1980.

 The Rays won for the sixth time in seven games with a combined one-hitter in a 4-0 victory over the Yankees on Thursday. Tampa Bay is an AL-best 19-6 since August 29 and enters this series one game behind Oakland for the AL's top wild card and two games ahead of Cleveland for the second.

 Austin Meadows is 29-for-65 (.446) with seven homers and 16 RBI this season against the Jays. That average is the best in the AL by any player against any opponent this season (min. 50 PA). Meadows' 1.375 OPS vs. Toronto is the second-best in team history against a single opponent (Ben Zobrist, 1.404 vs. Orioles in 2009).

 Rowdy Tellez hit two homers Wednesday to become the fourth rookie in Toronto history with 20. The Blue Jays have 11 multi-homer games from rookies this season, most in MLB history. Tellez (3), Vladimir Guerrero (2), Bo Bichette (2), Cavan Biggio (2), Billy McKinney and Danny Jansen are the rookies to accomplish that.

 Avisail Garcia is batting .367 (18-for-49) with three homers and 10 RBI during a 12-game hitting streak against the Blue Jays. That's the second-longest single-season streak by a Rays player against Toronto, trailing only Travis Lee's 14-game run in 2003.
