 A 4-2 loss to the Pirates on Thursday was the fourth in five games for the Giants, who are 9-29 in September since September 1, 2018. San Francisco needs to go 11-4 over its final 15 games to avoid a third straight losing season.

 Mike Yastrzemski's 19 home runs through his first 93 games with the Giants is a total bettered only by Barry Bonds (26 in 1993), Willie McCovey (22 in 1959), Brian Johnson (20 in 1997), Jeff Kent (20 in 1997) and Dave Kingman (20 in 1971) since the team moved to San Francisco in 1958.

 Starlin Castro's next RBI will be his career-high 79th, surpassing the 78 he had with the Cubs in 2012. He's 14-for-28 (.500) with three home runs and eight RBI in his last seven road games and his .350 road average (42-for-120) since June 23 is tied for fourth-best in the NL (minimum 100 PA).

Cueto looks for second win as Giants face Marlins

SAN FRANCISCO (AP)  On the eve of an anticipated trip to Boston, Mike Yastrzemski came through once again for the San Francisco Giants.
Yastrzemski scored the go-ahead run on Ryne Stanek's wild pitch in the eighth inning, Johnny Cueto pitched five scoreless innings in his second game back from Tommy John surgery and the Giants beat the Miami Marlins 2-1 Sunday.
