 This will be the final series played this season between the two top teams in the AL Central. Cleveland has won nine of the 16 matchups so far, including winning each of the last two series. Minnesota currently leads Cleveland by 3.5 games in the Central, the smallest gap of any division leader in MLB.

 Minnesota has lost each of its last two series, dropping two of three games against both the Indians and the Nationals. The Twins have not lost three consecutive series at any point during this season.

 Cleveland enters this series having won four straight games, and seven of its last 10. Since May 28, the Indians are 60-34 (.638) -- only the Yankees have a better record in the AL over that time at 63-33 (.653).

 With a season age of 25, this is Francisco Lindor's third career season with 30+ home runs. The only other switch-hitter all-time to have at least three 30-home run seasons at the age of 25 or younger is Mickey Mantle, who also had exactly three such seasons.

 Mitch Garver reached the 30-home run plateau in just his 83rd game of the season. The only catcher in MLB history to reach 30 home runs in a season in fewer games than Garver was Rudy York, who needed just 76 games to reach 30 HR for the 1937 Tigers.

 Aaron Civale has recorded a 1.93 ERA over his first eight MLB starts, the third-lowest mark by a Cleveland pitcher through as many career starts in the live-ball era. Civale is also the first AL pitcher to throw at least five innings while allowing two or fewer earned runs in each of his first eight starts since Gary Peters did so in his first eight career starts for the White Sox in 1963.

The Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Indians saw their offenses make an immediate impact in their series opener, only to see Mother Nature wash away those results following a near-two-hour rain delay.
That game ultimately was postponed after 2 1/2 innings -- with the score tied 2-2 -- resulting in a split doubleheader Saturday as the American League Central rivals reconvene in Cleveland.

Indians look to gain more ground on Twins in DH

CLEVELAND (AP)  With one swing Miguel Sano sent the Minnesota Twins to a doubleheader sweep and maybe a division title.
Sano's grand slam capped a five-run eighth inning and the Twins grabbed firm control of the AL Central by beating the Cleveland Indians 9-5, completing the sweep of Saturday's day-night doubleheader.
