 Miami and Atlanta have split their last six meetings after the Braves won nine of the first 10 meetings this season. Their last series was a four-game split from August 8-11 despite the Marlins hitting .331 and piling up 49 hits, their most in any series this season.

 The Atlanta bullpen has a league-high opponent batting average of .306 since the All-Star break and has the second-highest bullpen ERA since the break at 6.69 (Col, 6.97). Sean Newcomb had a 1.80 ERA in 21 pre-All-Star relief appearances and has a 6.14 ERA in 15 appearances since.

 The Marlins dropped three games in Colorado over the weekend. With their 3-0 loss Friday, they became the first team to be shut out at Coors Field this season. Their 10 runs and .368 slugging percentage in the series are second worst by any visitor at Coors this season (Tor, nine, .343, May 31-June 2).

 Ronald Acuna Jr. has reached base in 19 straight games, Ozzie Albies has reached safely in 15 straight games and Josh Donaldson has reached in seven straight. The teammates have reached base a combined 96 times this month, more than any other NL trio.

 Garrett Cooper enters the series on a nine-game hitting streak and is hitting .342 with a .390 on-base percentage over that span. Since a 0-for-15 slump from July 30-August 5, Cooper is hitting .349 with five multi-hit games.

 Mike Soroka and Sandy Alcantara - scheduled to face off Thursday - are first and third, respectively, among rookie qualifiers in ERA (2.41 and 4.35, respectively). Soroka has given up eight home runs, the fewest of any ERA qualifier this season.

The Atlanta Braves will learn whether Julio Teheran has a short memory when they send the veteran right-hander to the mound to start against the visiting Miami Marlins on Wednesday.
Teheran (7-8, 3.71 ERA) will face Miami left-hander Caleb Smith (8-6, 3.63 ERA) in the second game of a three-game series at SunTrust Park.
