 The Mets enter the series having won 13 of their last 14 games -- all against teams currently under .500 -- but will play 31 of their next 34 games against teams that presently have winning records. New York is 28-40 against teams currently .500 or better, with only the Marlins (28-60), Pirates (26-55) and Rockies (28-42) owning lower winning percentages vs. winning teams among the NL.

 Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Giants was the Nationals' 29th straight in games where they've held opponents to three runs or fewer, the second-longest streak in franchise history. The Expos won 33 straight when allowing three or less runs from July 7-Sept. 27, 1987.

 The Mets have won eight consecutive home games, their longest streak at Citi Field since a 12-game run from Sept. 27, 2014-April 23, 2015. They've homered 18 times over their last seven home games and are 14-1 since the All-Star break when going deep two or more times.

 Gerardo Parra is 6-for-16 with two homers and seven RBI thus far on Washington's current road trip, and his .353 career average at Citi Field ranks second among active players (min. 100 PA), behind only the Mets' J.D. Davis (.394).

 Stephen Strasburg is 23-1 with a 2.22 ERA in 28 road starts against NL East teams since April 30, 2015, with the Nationals going 25-3 in those games.  Marcus Stroman has held right-handed batters to a .219 average one year after they hit .295 off him. It's the largest decrease among major league pitchers from last season (min. 215 batters faced each season).

The New York Mets raised a lot of eyebrows around baseball on July 28, when they acquired Marcus Stroman from the Toronto Blue Jays despite only being on the fringes of wild-card contention in the National League.
