 Colorado heads to Washington for a four-game set, with the teams trending in opposite directions. The Rockies are 3-12 in July, hurt by an MLB-high 7.90 ERA this month. Washington's pitching staff, on the other hand, has the third-best ERA in July at 2.97, guiding them to a 10-5 record.

 On May 23, the Nationals were a season-high 12 games under .500 and were striking out once every 3.98 plate appearances, the fifth-highest rate in MLB. Since then, they have the third-lowest strikeout rate in baseball, punching out once every 5.38 plate appearances.

 The Rockies lead the majors with a .300 batting average with runners in scoring position, including a .338 mark since June 1. In the last 10 seasons, only the 2013 Cardinals (.330) have finished with at least a .300 batting average with runners in scoring position.
