 This is the first meeting between these teams since the Royals took two of three from the Braves at Kansas City in May 2016. This year, Atlanta is 4-2 against AL teams, and its 7.00 runs per game in interleague games is the best in MLB. Kansas City's average of 3.25 in interleague games ranks 28th.

 The Braves are 6-4 since the All-Star Game and their 4.30 runs per contest since then is fifth-worst in the NL. Atlanta went into the break averaging 5.40 to trail only Colorado's 5.51 for the best in the league.

 The Royals, meanwhile, are 7-3 since the break, and are fifth in the AL in both runs per game (5.90) and in OPS (.852). They went into the break 14th in the league in runs per game at 4.20 with a .706 OPS.

 Julio Teheran, scheduled to start Wednesday, gave up one run against the Nationals on Friday, the 10th time this season he allowed no more than a run. Among pitchers with at least 100 innings, only the Rays' Charlie Morton and Reds' Luis Castillo have more starts with one run or less allowed with 11 each.

 Playing in his 100th game of the season Sunday, Freddie Freeman scored twice in a win over the Nationals to give him 75 runs on the season. He is the first Brave with at least 75 runs, 75 RBI and 25 homers in his first 100 games of a season since Gary Sheffield in 2003.

 Jorge Soler hit a solo shot Sunday and is slashing .364/.500/.788 with four homers, 11 RBI and eight runs since the break. His 27 home runs this year are third-most in the AL, and no Royal has finished a season in the top three in the league in homers since Danny Tartabull was tied for third with 34 in 1987.

Kansas City's Brad Keller will have extra motivation -- and a few additional fans in the seats -- when he faces the Atlanta Braves in the finale of a two-game series on Wednesday.
Keller, who is from Flowery Branch, Ga., a northeastern suburb of Atlanta, will make his first career appearance against his hometown team at Atlanta's SunTrust Park. The right-hander was drafted and signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2013 before being acquired by Kansas City in 2017.
