 The Mets won their first five games versus the Marlins this season but were swept last time the teams met, managing only six runs, all in the series-opening game. New York managed three hits in these two games, the fewest by any team in a two-game span since the Dodgers in 2015 (two hits from 8/19-8/21).

 The Mets have gone 3-10 since June 23, with all their wins in that span coming at home. New York started the season 7-1 on the road, but have gone 10-30 since, the worst record away from home in MLB in that span.

 Pete Alonso slugged 30 home runs prior to the All-Star break, tying Aaron Judge (2017) for the second most by a rookie pre-break all-time (Mark McGwire, 33 HR in 1987).

 The Marlins lost six of seven heading into the break despite outhitting opponents 64-63 in that span. Miami ranks last in MLB in home runs with 68 and last in extra-base hits with 212.

 After hitting .212 in limited action last season, Garrett Cooper is hitting .306 in 2019. As a team, the Marlins are hitting .253 when Cooper starts compared to .225 when he does not.

 Among National League left-handers with at least 10 starts, Caleb Smith's 3.50 ERA ranks sixth while Jason Vargas' 3.77 mark ranks eighth. Smith is holding opponents to a .201 batting average, lowest among this same group of NL southpaws.

Right-hander Noah Syndergaard is scheduled to take the mound Saturday on the road against the Miami Marlins to open what could be the final second half of his New York Mets tenure.
Reports circulated this week that the Mets could be interested in moving Syndergaard by the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, but a heavy return of multiple top prospects is likely desired, putting chances of a deal in question.
