 The Brewers entered the All-Star break with an NL-leading 155 homers and lead the majors with 14 home runs in seven games this month. Milwaukee, however, is batting .205 in July, 29th in the majors and percentage points ahead of the MLB-worst Rockies.

 Christian Yelich is slashing .372/.422/.670 with 13 doubles, 19 RBI, and 18 runs in 22 games against the Giants since 2016. That 1.092 OPS is the best by any of the 50 major leaguers with at least 90 plate appearances against San Francisco since 2016.

 Buster Posey, conversely, is batting .424 with a .486 OBP in his 16 games against the Brewers since 2016. Both his batting average and OBP are the highest in MLB among the 86 batters that have at least 70 plate appearances against Milwaukee since 2016.

 All-Star Mike Moustakas is hitting just .197 in his last 19 games immediately after batting .364 during an 11-game hitting streak. His .197 batting average since June 18 is tied with the Dodgers' Max Muncy for the second lowest in MLB among the 66 batters with at least 75 plate appearances in that span.

 Yasmani Grandal hit his 19th homer on Saturday to match Dave Nilsson in 1999 for the most by a Brewers catcher before the All-Star break. His 50 walks are the most at the break by any NL catcher since the Rockies' Chris Iannetta also had 50 in 2011.

 The Giants won six of seven before the break, scoring at least seven runs in five of those games. In 17 games since June 20, San Francisco's 42 doubles trail only Pittsburgh's 43 for the most in all of MLB.

A team with pitchers potentially for sale encounters a club that could be in the market for dependable arms when the San Francisco Giants open baseball's second half Friday night against the host Milwaukee Brewers.
Both teams ended the first half on the outside of the playoff picture, with the Brewers (47-44) a half-game behind the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central as well as Philadelphia for the National League's second wild-card spot, while the Giants (41-48), the last-place team in the NL West, are 5 1/2 games back.

MILWAUKEE (AP)  The San Francisco Giants went into the All-Star break playing solid baseball. Buster Posey made sure they kept up their winning ways in their first game back.
Posey hit a grand slam in the top of the 10th inning to lift the Giants to a 10-7 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night.
