 The Twins have been in first place in the AL Central for 85 days this season -- only the Dodgers (90 days) have spent more time leading their division in 2019. The last season in which Minnesota spent more days leading the AL Central was in 2010 (141 days).

 The Athletics have won three straight games, and 10 of their last 13 games overall. Over this stretch of 13 games, Oakland has out-homered its opponents, 24-9.

 The Athletics won the season series against the Twins last year, winning five of the seven matchups. Since 2018, Oakland is 34-9 (.791) against teams from the AL Central, the best record by any team against a division from the same league over that time.

Twins send Berrios to face A's in search of series win

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP)  Marcus Semien's second big swing of the day finally gave the Oakland Athletics some breathing room in an oh-so-tight series with the AL Central-leading Twins.
Semien hit a grand slam in the eighth inning after his tying homer leading off the fifth, Chris Herrmann had a career-high four hits, and the A's beat Minnesota 7-2 on Thursday for a winning series in a matchup of contenders.
