The Brewers are 4-1 against the Reds this season and 7-0-2 in nine series with them dating to 2017. The nine consecutive series against Cincinnati without a loss is Milwaukee's longest active non-losing series streak against any single opponent.

The Brewers have lost three in a row, returning home from a 2-6 trek that saw their starters post a 7.23 ERA and 1.85 WHIP -- both marks the second worst in MLB since their trip began June 11. Over that same span, Reds starters have MLB's third-best ERA at 2.91.

The Reds have matched a season high with four straight victories with the last three each coming by a single run. Cincinnati has the highest percentage of games played decided by one run at 37.5 (27 of 72).

Christian Yelich hit his major league-leading 27th homer Wednesday in San Diego but the Brewers ended up losing 8-7. Milwaukee has lost the last three games Yelich has homered after going 15-3 in the previous 18 games he hit a home run.

Luis Castillo, Cincinnati's scheduled starter for Saturday, tossed six innings of two-run ball to beat Houston on Monday and improve to 7-0 with a 2.40 ERA in his last 13 starts. The last Reds pitcher to make 13 straight starts without a loss in a single season was Mat Latos, who made 14 in row in 2013.

Yasiel Puig hit his 14th homer of the season Wednesday, giving him three home runs in the last five games. He now has eight extra-base hits in his last 12 games, the same number of extra-base hits he had in his previous 35 contests.

Reds bring four-game win streak into Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (AP)  Tanner Roark finally got some early run support and made the most of it.
Roark allowed one run - a homer by major league leader Christian Yelich - over six solid innings and Jose Iglesias homered and drove in four runs as the Cincinnati Reds beat the Milwaukee Brewers 7-1 on Thursday night for their fifth straight victory.
