 The Nationals have won five straight meetings with the Diamondbacks and are 32-14 (.696) against Arizona since 2012, their best winning percentage against any NL opponent during that period.

 Washington is averaging an MLB-best 6.35 runs per game while going 12-5 since May 24. The Nationals had won 10 straight games when scoring five or more runs prior to Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the White Sox.

 The Diamondbacks are 5-1 thus far on a 10-game road trip in which they've homered 16 times and averaged 6.8 runs per game. Arizona leads the majors in runs per game (7.23), batting average (.302) and OPS (.899) in away games since May 24.

 Anthony Rendon homered twice Tuesday to extend his on-base streak to 27 games, the longest active streak in the majors. He's slashing .333/.450/.687 during the run and is one of three players (Nolan Arenado, Wilson Ramos) with an OPS above 1.300 in home games since May 14 (min 42 PA).

 Ketel Marte is batting .410 (25 of 61) with six homers and 11 RBIs over a 13-game hitting streak on the road, the longest by an Arizona player away from home since current National Gerardo Parra hit safely in 13 straight from Apr. 5-May 4, 2013.

 Max Scherzer, scheduled to start Friday, threw seven scoreless innings to beat the Padres on June 8 and improved to 13-1 with a 2.33 ERA in 21 starts against NL West opponents since 2016. The Nationals are 16-5 in those games.

Zack Greinke is probably the last pitcher the Washington Nationals want to see as they open a long homestand Thursday, trying to get back into the National League East race.
After all, Arizona's veteran right-hander of is 7-2 with 2.87 ERA this season -- and 5-1 with a 1.46 ERA in eight career starts against Washington. He has not lost to the Nationals since 2014.

He was in the minority Thursday night when he took a bid into the seventh inning as the Arizona Diamondbacks cruised to a 5-0 victory over the Washington Nationals.
