The Brewers took three of four in the teams' first series last weekend in Pittsburgh. The Pirates won five of the nine meetings in Milwaukee last season, taking two of the three series after winning none in 2017.

Pittsburgh took two of three against the Braves this week, tallying 34 hits in the series -- their most in a three-game set this season. Since May 1, the Pirates have 19 games with 10+ hits, tied with the Rockies for second in MLB (Twins, 20). However, they are just 11-8 (.578) in those games, sixth worst in that span.

Milwaukee dropped two of three at home against the Marlins, including a 16-0 trouncing on Tuesday night. Since May 17, the Brewers have gone 8-9 but have a -17 run differential, third lowest in the NL -- only the Giants (-42) and Pirates (-19) are worse.

Josh Bell went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI on Thursday and ranks third in the NL with a .692 slugging percentage. That slugging percentage is the second highest by a Pirate through 60 player games in the live-ball era, behind only Willie Stargell, who slugged .699 in his first 60 games in 1971.

Christian Yelich hit his MLB-leading 23rd home run on Thursday and has 59 home runs since joining Milwaukee at the start of last season, matching his total from his five seasons with Miami. With a home run in any of his next eight games, Yelich will become the fastest to hit 60 home runs as a Brewer, passing Ryan Braun (212 games).

Pirates rookie Bryan Reynolds enters the series riding a 14-game hitting streak and looks to become the first Pirates rookie with a 15-game streak since Neil Walker in 2010 (18 games). Reynolds' .346 average this season is the highest by a switch-hitter through 41 career games since the Phillies' Buzz Arlett his .377 in 1931.
